Applications Open for Beit Midrash at 14th St. Y

LABA: House of Study is a beit midrash for culture-makers at the 14th St. in New York City. Through the program, selected fellows partake in a yearlong study of Jewish texts in a non-religious setting and incorporate these ancient ideas into their contemporary work. This year we are seeking 8-10 fellows from a variety of artistic disciplines who will explosre the role eating plays in classical Jewish texts, including the Bible, Talmud, and a range of other rabbinic materials. We will examine food as a political and economic commodity, religious symbol, weapon of war, ethical statement, source of beauty, and more.
