Week 6 Journey (Sunday, July 21 – Saturday, July 27)
The riders say goodbye to the great state of Minnesota and hello to Wisconsin. The week begins with the riders cycling along the fourth longest river in the world and largest river in North America, the Mississippi River. Some of the notable sites they will visit are Merrick State park, Devil’s Lake State Park, and Kettle Moraine State Park. The mobile community will have the opportunity to experience the various cities and the bodies of water that make them unique: La Crosse on the Mississippi, Madison on the Lakes Mendota and Monona, and finally Milwaukee on Lake Michigan. Milwaukee is a city that features the confluence of three rivers that flow into Lake Michigan, lakefront parklands, and an extensive bike path network. The Cross-USA Ride will stop at Growing Power before they finish their journey to learn about sustainable agriculture and unique gardening techniques.
The riders only have a few more weeks left of the ride, but they have a lot more adventure to come!
