The Jewish Men’s Retreat (JMR) Fellowship Program for Young Men (Ages 18-35)

The Jewish Men’s Retreat (JMR) Fellowship Program for Young Men is for young adult men who have an interest in attending the annual Jewish men’s retreat, now in its 25th year. The JMR offers men an energetic weekend which weaves together spirited conversation, large and small group discussions, joyous worship services, text study, music, movement and laughter. We welcome all men to our community for this exciting weekend- whether gay, bisexual, straight or transgendered, younger or older, in relationship or not, and all expressions of Jewish observance.

 JMR FELLOWS will receive:

• Full financial support to attend the JMR weekend November 11-13, 2016

• Assistance in securing transportation to the event

• A JMR mentor who will be available before and during the JMR

• Support to participate in the planning of future JMRs

To apply for a JMR Fellowship, you must be 18 to 35 years of age, have an interest in exploring men’s issues and Judaism and a willingness to attend the entire weekend of activities (including the pre-JMR gathering on Thursday evening, November 10th through the closing circle on Sunday, November 13th). Preference will be given to first time JMR attendees.

What is the Jewish Men’s Retreat?

The Jewish Men’s Retreat (JMR) retreat community represents a broad range of Jewish men: young adults and elders; all sexual orientations; single, married, and divorced; JMR veterans and many newcomers; and men with a broad range of Jewish knowledge and observance. Along with the connections that naturally develop among men who meet at our retreats, many men have used the JMR as an occasion to deepen their relationships with their fathers, sons, or brothers, friends, and congregants by inviting them to join them for the weekend. Over 300 men have participated in JMR over the past 25 years. Give yourself and others the gift of experiencing this truly unique weekend!  JMR, now in its 25th year, is sponsored by Menschwork, which can be found at

The Jewish Men’s Retreat brings together an incredible group of men each year. The generosity of spirit, affirmation of the image of G-d in each other, and cultivation of our best selves at these retreats inspires and uplifts long after the closing circle. The JMR is a great way to reconnect with yourself as a man and to find out how other men are doing. It’s not often safe to be vulnerable with other men, but at JMR this is not only possible but encouraged and supported.
