The earth is moving into a time of quiet as the days grow shorter and darker. In the temperate world, it is a time of stillness and introspection. During Chanukah and the Solstice, we can reconnect with ourselves, taking in much needed spiritual nourishment. In a quintessentially Jewish contradiction, it is during this cold dark time that we celebrate light and life.
In this series, Rabbi Robin Damsky guides us in melody, prayer, learning, and meditation to discover what this season can bring to us individually, and how we can use that to bring more light to the world around us: we will tend to our inner selves, engage in a process of renewal, and prepare to connect with the world anew.
We invite you to participate regardless of your experience with meditation or text study. This journey is designed as a three-part series, and you are welcome to attend for any or all of it.
Rabbi Robin Damsky, identified by Kenissa as an innovator redefining Jewish life, blends spiritual practice with music, movement, mediation, Neo-Hasidic text study, edible garden design, and eco-social justice, into a holistic expression of Judaism for this century. She was ordained by American Jewish University, earned her MA in Jewish education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, completed Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher Training at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, received her license in Medical Massage from the Swedish Institute School of Massage, and holds a BFA in dance from Ohio University. She is the founder of In the Gardens, a nonprofit that addresses hunger, community, and planetary balance through garden design and mindfulness practice. She serves part-time as spiritual leader of Temple Israel, Gary, IN, and works locally in Chapel Hill, NC. Connect with her on Instagram (@inthegardensIL) and on Facebook.
