American food culture is far from healthy.
Over several hundred years, conventional agricultural methods have depleted the soil and reduced the nutrients in our food. Combine this with the calorie-dense Standard American Diet most of us eat, and the country is facing “hidden hunger” and a rise in diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. At the same time, how we eat has an impact on the environment. Join physician Ron Weiss; his master farmer, Nora Pugliese; and Jeff Tkach, chief impact officer from the Rodale Institute, to discuss how we can optimize our personal health as well as the health of the planet. It begins with cultivating healthy soil and ends with nutritional excellence in our food choices–and brings agriculture and health care together in a holistic system
