Songs for Shmita

At Adamah we sing in morning prayers, we sing as we shlepp cucumbers, we sing to open and close meetings and classes, sometimes we sing ourselves to sleep! We sing as spiritual practice, as community building, as learning.

In 2008 members of the Adamah and Teva communities recorded many of these songs on our first CD.  In 2015, in our honor of the Shmitah year – the seventh year of rest, ecological and spiritual rejuvination, and justice – Adamah Fellows recorded Release: Songs of Shmita. Adamah Alumnus, spiritual leader, and musician Shir Yaakov Feinstein-Feit helped to produce both recordings.
In 2022, the fall fellows and staff self-recorded a third Shmita album: Zemirot Ha’Adamah, featuring songs they wrote.
